With J2534 for ECU Programming
The diagnostic tool comes with a J2534 ECU programming tool (also used as a VCI box) that is a SAE J2534-1 W & -2 compliant pass thru reprogramming interface device. Using the updated OEM software, it is capable of helping BM-W and Benz users replace the existing software/firmware in the Electronic Control Units (ECU), program new ECUs and fix software-controlled drivability issues and emission issues.
It supports BT and USB communications and can transmit vehicle data to the MaxiCOM display tablet with or without a physical connection.
There are 3 indicators on the J2534 ECU programming device:
Vehicle LED – Flashes green when communicating with the vehicle’s system
Connection LED -Illuminates solid green when properly connected with the display tablet via the USB cable; Illuminates solid blue when connected with the display tablet via wireless (BT) connection
Power LED-Illuminates solid green when powered on: Flashes red when system failure occurs: Illuminates amber automatically at power up when the device is performing self-test procedure
ECU Coding
The Coding function is used to re-flash the vehicle control modules, it allows you to update the computer software on the vehicle to the latest version, as well as to reprogram adaptive data for certain components after making repairs or replacements, providing ways for the issues of Drivability, Fuel Efficiency, Power Loss, Fault Codes, Durability of Mechanical Parts.
Active Test
The process of sending and retrieving information from a vehicle control module with a device is known as Actuation test or bi-directional control. The main aim of the actuation test function is to request the control module to perform a specific function including system tests, actuator tests, functional tests, inspection tests, reprogramming or reinitialization, thus saving diagnostic time.
Eg: You connect a fuel pressure gauge, cycled the key and cranked the engine but you couldn’t figure out anything regarding the fuel pressure. With the actuation test function of this diagnostic tool, you can send a fuel pump command on instruction and see the proper fuel pressure, figuring out if there is a problem with the fuel pump circuit or pump.

DPF Service: Allows you to carry out numerous functions to the Diesel Particulate Filter system.
TPMS Service: Allows you to quickly look up the tire sensor IDs from the vehicle’s ECU, as well as to perform TPMS programming and reset procedures after tire sensors are replaced.

1. Return Policy
What Situation VXDAS Provides Return Policy?
- Mis-Ordered Products: If you ordered the wrong item by mistake and need to exchange it for the correct one, you can return it. However, you must bear the shipping costs for both sending the item back to us and the freight for shipping the new item back to you.
- Quality Issues: If our products do not work well upon arrival or suffer damage during delivery, our return policy will apply—provided that the issue is verified by our technical team.
- Non-Quality Issues (Change of Mind): In particular situations, after our customer service reviews your case, a return may be accepted. Under this condition, we will deduct the original shipping fee PLUS a 15% restocking fee from your final refund.
What Situation VXDAS DOES NOT Provide Return Policy?

- Failure to Provide Proof: The customer is unable or refuses to provide clear pictures of the product issue and a short video showing their operation.

- Unauthorized Disassembly (Anti-Tampering Rule): The device housing has been opened, unscrewed, or dismantled by the customer without our official tech team’s written permission.
- Man-Made Damage: The item is damaged due to improper personal use, physical drops, or incorrect installation.
What if a Customer Insists on Returning the Item Anyway?
If a customer refuses to cooperate with our technical verification process but insists on shipping the item back without our official return authorization:
- All Costs on Customer: The customer must fully bear the return shipping fee AND any customs clearance fees/import duties incurred when the parcel arrives at our warehouse. VXDAS will not pay for any customs-due parcels.
- Strict Deduction: We will only process a refund AFTER we receive the complete package in its original, undamaged sealed packaging. From the final refund, we will strictly deduct the original shipping postage fee PLUS a 15% restocking fee.
How to Return Items to VXDAS? (With Authorization)
After all details are confirmed and a return is officially agreed upon by VXDAS sales, please follow this process:
- Return Shipping Method: VXDAS strongly recommends using Registered Mail , EMS, DHL, UPS or FEDEX to return the parcel. Please only send it to the shipping address provided by our Customer Service. Without our prior permission, we are not responsible for parcels lost or rejected through unapproved express couriers.
- Return Shipping Window: All returns for a refund or exchange must be completed within 14 days of receiving our official return authorization. You must ship the item out and provide the return tracking number with shipping invoice details to your VXDAS sales representative.
2. Refund Policy (Including Order Cancellation)
You can apply for a refund within 14 days from the date you received the goods. The detailed rules are as follows:
What Situation VXDAS Provides Refund Policy?
- Cancel the Order Before Shipping (Personal Reasons): If you request to cancel your order within 12 hours of placing it and before it has been shipped, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from your total refund to cover payment gateway transaction fees and handling costs.
- Cancel the Order After Shipping (In Transit or Delivered): If you request a cancellation or return after the package has been shipped, you are responsible for the return process. We will deduct the original shipping postage fee PLUS a 15% restocking fee from your final refund. The item must be returned 100% unopened and in its original sealed packaging.
- Technical & Quality Issues (Mandatory Verification): Automotive diagnostic tools involve professional hardware and complex software environments. If you report a quality defect or a technical issue, you MUST follow our verification process:
- Proof Required: You MUST provide clear photos of the error message and a short operation video showing how you connected and operated the device. (Product S/N is not required).
- Remote Inspection: You MUST cooperate with our technical support team for a remote check (via TeamViewer). Our technicians must officially inspect and confirm the issue remotely before any return or refund can be authorized.
- Return Shipping for Quality Issues: If our technical team confirms a hardware or software defect via photos/video/remote check and it cannot be fixed, we will fully cover the return shipping cost. If you refuse to provide photos/videos or decline the remote technical inspection, your request will automatically be processed as a “Change of Mind” (personal reason) return, meaning you must pay for the return shipping yourself.
- Stock Issues: If a product is out of stock, we will email you to check if you prefer an exchange or a full refund.
- Lost in Transit: If the shipping company confirms the product is lost in transit, we will provide a full refund or resend a new item.

When Can You Get the Refund?
Usually, we will only issue the refund after the returned item is received and inspected by our warehouse (within 2-3 business days). If the returned product is opened, used, damaged, or shows signs of self-disassembly, corresponding damage costs will be deducted, or the refund request may be rejected entirely. Once approved, the refund will be processed back to your original payment method within 7 business days.
3. Repair Policy
In-Warranty Period (1-Year Warranty)
Most diagnostic tools and software from VXDAS come with a 1-year warranty, free repair, and 1-year free updates during the warranty period.
- How to claim: You must first provide your order number, problem pictures, and operation videos to our customer service technicians to confirm the problem. If the problem cannot be solved remotely, we will guide you on how to send the product back for repair.
- Shipping Fees: You will bear the shipping cost of sending the tool to VXDAS. Once the repair is completed and tested, VXDAS will bear the shipping cost to send it back to you.
Out-of-Warranty Period
Products purchased over 1 year ago or items with man-made damage (due to improper use) are out of warranty. A repair fee and return shipping fee will apply. Please consult our sales staff regarding specific maintenance costs before sending items back.
4. Warranty Policy
- One-Year Quality Warranty: All diagnostic tools and software from VXDAS include a one-year quality warranty period. (Note: 1-time remote service or customized services are not covered. Some specific brand products enjoy a 2-year warranty).
- Strict Quality Control: Before shipping, all goods are rigorously tested by vxdas.com engineers. We check basic hardware/software functions, appearance, packaging, accessories, and power adapter standards to ensure full functionality.
- Exceptions: This warranty policy applies to all items except those that explicitly state “No Warranty” in their product descriptions (such as certain chips or single-use components).
🚨 What Voids the Warranty Automatically? (Void Warranty Scope)
To protect our brand and coordinate with original factory policies, the standard 1-year warranty will be instantly and permanently voided if the device falls under any of the following scenarios:
- Unauthorized Disassembly: If the customer opens, unscrews, dismantles, the internal hardware board of the device by themselves without our written permission. (Most units contain anti-tamper warranty stickers; broken seals will result in immediate warranty termination).
- Wearable Consumables: Main test cables, OBD2 adapters, and power cords are subject to daily wear and tear. These accessories are covered under a 30-day arrival-defect warranty and are excluded from the 1-year main unit warranty.
- End-of-Life (Discontinued) Models: If a model has been officially discontinued and the manufacturing factory has permanently closed its production line, we will no longer have access to original spare parts. Hardware repair will not be supported for these models, though software support will remain accessible whenever available.
- Fatal Hardware Failure (Main Chip Damage): If the device’s main IC/CPU chip is permanently burned, cracked, or short-circuited (often caused by vehicle voltage surges, improper power input, or unapproved firmware modifications), the hardware is physically irreparable.

5. Governing Law & Business Entity
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong, together with all other applicable local laws relevant to the merchant’s operations. Best Tool Money can buy
I love this mk908. It’s scary because it can replaced a well seasoned Automotive technician due to data readings. There’s an option where you can graph use a bar and gauge to read PIDS if it’s within threshold you’ll see red, green and blue range. It’s really good design by Autel to include it within the tool.

Not what it looks like.
Bought it to work on newer vehicles but after testing this on 2 cars, it’s not what is supposed to be. 2021 Explorer, can’t access immobilizer, no tpms service and many more, the device can’t decide the VIN. I did all updates on tablet and vci. 2015 Jaguar XF, only active tests are on 1 module, central junction box. Very limited. It retrieves same codes as my MX808. The Live View is only in landscape mode and it’s horrible to look at because the boxes are too big and the font is too large and you have to click on the ? to get more info about that box. Also, it’s not in alphabetical order and that makes it hard to find what you’re looking for. Froze many times and I had to restart it. The vci box gets pretty hot so don’t lay it on leather seats or vinyl. It’s pretty heavy and battery seems to go down a lot faster than my old MX808. Overall, maybe it’s great on older more basic cars like a 2005 Buick regal and a 2010 Honda Civic, but not that good for other, non frequent cars.

I’m an ASE Master Tech and use this tool daily. There are times when my co-workers will ask to borrow it because their high end snap-on wont do what they need. One advantage that snap-on has over this is the graphing abilities. This one graphs but not near as smoothly. Other than that, totally happy with it. Awesome tool for a fraction of the cost of others.

Autel mk908 is a great product. I was using a very expencive snap on scan tool before buy the autel mk908 and the autel is just as good as the snap on tool but a fraction of the price. Autel is the best
Autel is the brand I go to and cost less then Snap Off. I have the MP408 scope also, basic but gets thew job done. I had 2 908s but his is way nicer from the power button, brighter screen and having a power on LED top let the others didn’t have letting you know the tool is on along with turning green when fully charged. There are more things that changed with this model like more data graphs fitting the screen side by side instead of all the way across, just little things. The new ultra is next.

Just wish it came with a new version of Android so we could utilize the google play store and current apps on the tablet. I’m glad Autel is at the forefront of producing diagnostic equipment the average technician can afford, but please make it even more useable with the updated android OS.

I really liked this scanner the thing it could do was awesome, it was with deep regret that I had to return it, I will explain later. Customer support was superb, they were very helpful trying to diagnosis the problem and also the return. Now to why I had to return this scanner. I am in the Auto Glass Business and I needed a scanner that would do dynamic re-calibrations. After I had replaced the windshield that had these features. I was tired of sending my customers back to the dealership to have them re-calibrate their windshield. I don’t have shop big enough to do static calibration at this time. I know that some vehicles require a static calibration and some require both a dynamic and static calibration, but many can be calibrated with a dynamic calibration. After much research I found that although this tool is advertised to do Adas Calibrations, the MaxiSys ADAS application requires a code (QR code scan) from the calibration frame to activate the software. That being said if I was a mechanic I would definitely have this machine. Ran a diagnostics on a 2004 Chevy 1500 with 280,000 Picked up a 10 DTCS and found it quite easy to navigate. Just clicked a button and it took me straight to google to tell me what the code was, without having to reenter the code again. Along with what others found that had solved the problem for that particular code. It was easy to erase the codes after the repairs were made. I just wish I could justify keeping it.

Again, up to you how many times over. To the home or weekend mechanics, there’s hardly a sensor you can effectually diagnose, no-less replace without an initialization/relearn on the entire module(!) Even ASE certifications these days, largely revolve directly around your scan tool(!) This is a professional, dealer-quality instrument; Autel is 2nd to NONE in software, performance, functionality, user-friendliness & quality. Remember that a diagnostic tool is only as good as its software & that Each uses its respective proprietary brand; Be-weary of the many “one-off” devices out there (is my advive); I LOVE that the software is CONSTANTLY being developed; I recieve updates daily at times & have yet to notice a full week pass without continual updates & software expansion. I’ve had many Autel products over the years that I still use regularly. This unit wil prove an absolutely integral tool for your home, garage, or business; ‘Shop Manager’ saves every scanned vehicle (&history), stores customer info, generates bill templates that logs vehicle diagnosisis & services provided, for print or email; If you own a garage, or are looking to offer mobil-technician services; this such Autel device can well make the difference between questionable & professional And While Autel has always been very customer service oriented: You would not believe the amount of time & personal attention Ive recieved from Autel Direct!
