Excellent product for the price!!

I bought this to check codes on my Ford Explorer and this has a lot of options for the price. It does more than check codes and the real-time diagnostics are awesome. If you are a weekend mechanic and want something that does not cost thousands of dollars, this is the one you want. It uses the Autel software that all of the knockoffs use…so why buy an imitation if you can get an original at this price?

Money saver.

My son worked on my car to replace a part. The engine light would not turn off manually. We knew there was nothing wrong with the engine but needed to diagnose and clear it off. This tool worked to perfection. My son hooked it up and got the code, cleared it. The check engine light remained on because the car has to be driven a couple of miles in order for the engine to reset. It worked!!!! No more check engine light. This would have cost about $150 just to hook up and diagnose, and probably a couple of hundreds to clear it off. I’m extremely hPpy with it. Even if the car needs work, you can diagnose the problem then take it to the mechanic and not be cheated, highly recommend it,

Does exactly what I needed, read and clear codes

I bought this because my 1998 Chevy Silverado 1500 had the service engine light on and it comes on from time to time but then shut off. I bought this reader and it read the codes and synced with all 3 of my cars and was really very easy to use. Out of the box it connected. I did update it as there was an update on 2/14/14 so I figured why not. But for the price and easy of use it was well worth the price.

Really Helpful Tool

I went to two different garages to do smog checks and failed because of evaporated system leaks. The scanners at each station indicated that the failure was in the evaporation system from the gas tank but did not indicate what was causing the failure. Consequently, I spent a lot of money replacing parts without solving the problem. So I bought an Autel AL519 Scan Tool and did my own diagnosis. It showed me that there was a pinpoint leak in the system. Not only that, I was able to reset the computer which neither garage was able to do. It cost me another hundred dollars to get the problem fixed but thanks to Autel it is fixed.

Auto Troubleshooter OBDII scan tool

I used this on my car and a family members and it works great. If you have any problems it will show trouble codes which then you can check to fix the problem. and after problem if fixed it can clear out the error codes if they were not cleared by mechanic or yourself before. You can also drive your car with this attached and then save the results in case you want someone more experienced to review the data. Item was a great buy as one of Amazons Deals.

The Autel AL519 is a great product for the price

The Autel AL519 is a great product for the price. No batteries or anything else needed that doesn’t come out of the box. Simply plug the other end of the machine into the OBDII port of your car, scan for codes, and all the trouble codes will come up. It even gives a small (and generic) description of what the code means, and a generic price for how much it may cost. The cost isn’t exactly accurate but the color screen is nice and bright and it functions exactly as you would expect it to. 5 stars for a great looking and well functioning product.

Best investment so far!

I love this scan tool. It’s probably the best investment tool I’ve ever bought. It works great and tells me what the codes I have on my 2000 Ford F-150. The code I had was a p0171 and that’s what pulled up on the screen so I know it works properly. Remember the ignition needs to on before you use the scan tool otherwise you’ll be reading nothing. Highly recommend the the Autel AL519

Very nice to have in the garage so I don’t have to run to the auto parts store for a reading.

Needed to read the code on my car and to clear it. Didn’t want to spend a lot of money and I thought what the hack if it doesn’t work I will return it. This thing plugged in and worked perfectly. Easy to read screen and easy to clear the codes after fixing the problem. I used this on my three cars, older Lexus 07′ 04′ and a 03 and it worked perfectly and quickly on all of them. Highly recommended.

Works great with 05 Mercury Sable and 01 Ford F-150

Used it to pull transmission codes on my 05 Mercury sable. (Same as Ford Taurus) guy at autozone told me the code was low fluid……it was NOT! It was actually the transmission range sensor not showing park and reverse. I guess the guy read range and assumed fluid…. This is a great investment for anyone that does their own mechanic work.

Reads codes on our ’14 MB G550 & ’15 Honda Fit (Lexus too!!)

Exactly what I needed to read the codes from our ’14 MB G550 and ’15 Honda Fit. Tested and the tool communicated with both of these vehicles. Haven’t had any issues, but made this purchase to diagnose my cousin’s ’10 Lexus RX350. It found the fault code and interpreted the fix. Replaced the O2 sensor, cleared the code and all is back to normal. This Autel 519 cost $65. The replacement part (Denso 234-4509 Oxygen Sensor) was $72. My cousin bought the part and split the cost of the Scan Tool. He saved $340 vs. going to the dealer (Lexus labor rate in our area is $125/hr.). They quoted him $450 for parts and labor. Took both of us about 3 hours to do this install plus clean the engine bay, change oil/filter, rotate tires, change the cabin filter, replace the front brake pads and bleed the brakes!!! Although my labor was FREE, we enjoyed the rest of the day chugging down a couple 6-packs of my favorite lite beer!!!! Seller shipped from TX. as indicated on the listing. Although Prime not mentioned, it arrived in two days! The AL519 is a few more dollars than Autel’s other models, but they won’t do the enhanced Mode6 which most new Euro cars now have. Am liking the color-screen and the "beep" function when buttons are depressed.. Gives that "professional" feel when performing diagnostics. Length of the supplied cable is more than enough to comfortably reach from any OBDII port to the driver’s seat. As with most scanners, operation is similar: without turning over the engine, turn the key to "start" position (or push "start-button" to start mode w/out stepping on the brake) and the Autel starts communicating with the vehicle’s CPU once the corresponding button is pressed from the menu!!! Described as "used-like new". Nevertheless, it came with the original box, instruction manual, storage bag and accompanying cables (2). IMO, this is a new item! The original screen protector still was on the unit. No marks anywhere. It’s as if no one even touched it. I highly recommended YIT-BathroomOutlet as one of Amazon’s trusted sellers. UPDATE: Installed LED DRL’s for the 2015 Honda Fit and initially used the factory DRL fuse junction (#25). That made all the lights go on and shut down the instrument cluster. The Autel stored the codes and showed U0155 (Lost communication w/ instrument panel Cluster). Erased the code and re-scanned. No more codes and all the yellow warning lights are off. What a time-saver this tool is, plus, saved $’s from going to the dealer to have it diagnosed. UPDATE 2: Just diagnosed our nephew’s 2002 MBenz C240 Wagon. It had a check engine light on. Cause faulty gas cap!!!!

I ordered this because after an emission test- they did not put on the gas cap and I did not notice it. As is expected- the check engine light came on. I know some auto parts places will check the OBD II codes for free and clear them (mine would not), however, my service center charges $80 to read the codes. So I ordered this to see the problem myself- sure enough- that was the issue. Cleared the codes myself and can now check the health of my 3 cars anytime I like. Very nice product and really, really easy to use.

Best buy!

Had no issues with mine. Was able to confirm exactly what I suspected was wrong with my truck and also get less hassle from scheming mechanics who want to take you all around the world when you have car issues. It’s nice to have a heads up BEFORE getting it serviced! I really like that it gives you all the possible causes of code. When you look up each incident online you can compare those symptoms to the ones you’re having to really narrow down what repairs are needed. No more games and lies about what you car needs. I recommend this product!

Technology!

Well I’ve been putting off getting one of these. I don’t know I guess fear of change, use to working on the old cars. This thing works really good. I have successfully turned off 2 engine lights. Makes trouble shooting much easier. Local auto parts store has one but this one is better, it had more possible causes for engine light being on. I don’t think I’ll buy another used car without putting this on first. I am glad I have made this progress, I feel like I can work on cars again.

Very good wide range of scan data

This thing has saved me at least 10 times, it has more than paid for itself in time saved alone. Very good wide range of scan data, has to be the best scan tool on the market for the price. If you own/buy/sell used vehicles I would highly recommend.

Works well out of the box

I used this to diagnosed a problem on my 2004 Ford Expedition. All I had to do was plug the unit to the OBD connector under the dashboard. I was able to get the code, fix the problem and then reset the engine malfunction indicator light. Saved me a trip to the mechanic and enough money to pay for the unit.

Good product

Timing is everything. If you purchase this at right time. It will only cost you $51. Solid build. Previous one had connection problem, returned it. Second one is doing well so far.

This is an excellent code reader for the money

This is an excellent code reader for the money! It allows you to invoke on board diagnostic test built into the PCM. It has graphic displays for many sensors. I was able to determine that the o2 sensors on my 09 F150 with 164k miles had very slow response. I replaced them and am getting 2 mpg better mileage.

Paid for itself

I had a random code pop up that caused my check engine light to come on. this little item found the code, which was minor, and I cleared it. Saved me time and money…paid for itself

Way better than expected!

I’ve used this on 6 different cars in a week’s time and can’t complain. The display is bright and legible, controls are self explanatory if you’ve used a scanner before, and the quality is obvious once you unzip the case. I’d say it was money well spent since I’ve wanted for a while. Of the 6 cars I used this with, all codes were found (a lot more than expected) and easily taken care of before clearing. I did read the manual before using it in case you’re wondering. It does give detailed information on all the vehicle modules it links to while scanning. The rest is mainly a beginner intro on use. It reads the codes and gives a good description of the probable fault. I read a review where they thought the case felt like cheap plastic and can’t disagree more. The outer "sleeve" is a little loose to absorb impact in a fall. I tested this inadvertently…lol. It survived without a scuff. The zippered nylon case adds another layer of protection when not in use. It also has a Velcro pouch inside for the OBD-II interface cable, software CD, and USB to mini USB cable. I would highly recommend this over any scanner you can pick up at the local parts store. You’re not going to get a color display that large at this price point!

This product is powered-up thru the OBDII (OBD2) port, the device has no internal-power-source, for instance, if you need to update the firmware? the device needs to be pluged into your OBDII port, and also connected to your computers-usb port @ the same time. In summary, 2 physical-coneections = OBDII & USB, are needed to update the devices firmware.

Great tool

Awesome tool. I bought this because my EGR valve didn’t want to ready and I couldn’t pass smog because of it. So instead of me having to go back I bought this so I can test it myself to make sure it would pass before taking it in. I would highly recommend this product!

right tool for the job

Bought this because of a check-engine light. It works well with both of our family cars, as well as an RV. Knowing what the light meant saved me the money a mechanic would have cost. It has already paid for itself.

Does exactly as claimed, BUT the notification on a couple of displays only lasts for 2 or 3 seconds and it’s key information that you need to know…which totally bums me out. I needed the device to reset the alarm state on my 2005 Prius when it goes into a BOGUS fault condition. My car’s multiple computer’s "think" there’s something defective in the main hybrid battery pack…NOT so, after thorough testing, and a new hybrid battery courteous (warranty) of Toyota Motors. The Toyota technician now thinks it’s a faulty hybrid battery computer, that decides when and how to recharge the cells…only $800 installed. I keep the scan tool in my car to do emergency resets, when and if, the Prius computer’s take a dump. Always the same alarm code, and always clears instantly, and when reset, my Prius runs perfectly.

My check engine light was illuminated on my pickup and the Autel Tool read the codes and provided information as to what was wrong. The dealership read the same codes and confirmed that the problems were exactly what the Autel AL519 had indicated. After I repaired my truck, my daughter drove it down the road as I ran a complete analyses on my truck’s performance. I could not believe all the information the tool provided. Buy It!
