Autel AutoLink AL619 Auto Scanner Automotive Tool

Not sure at first but….

I purchased this scanner to use on my 2002 Jaguar X type. I figured at $125 an hour at the dealership that this would pay for itself in no time. I chose the Autel 619 because it offered ABS/SRS scanning ability and no other manufacturer offered this for European vehicles in this price range. When I opened the box it looked fine and talked to my Jags engine control system, but Jaguar was not listed in the ABS/SRS menu. I was having trouble even registering the tool on Autel’s website. I called Autel and had no problem getting to talk to a technical specialist. He too was surprised that vehicles were missing and said this would have to be turned over to Engineering for review. At this point I’m thinking here we go ….it will take months to sort this out. After a couple of days I was ready to send it back for a refund thinking nobody would contact me (based on some reading on the Internet). To my surprise I was contacted with a solution in under a week! I was informed there was an update to the software. At that point they helped me register the scanner, just to make sure I would not have any difficulty. I’m glad to report I updated the software and every vehicle line promised is in there! It communicates with my Jaguar and also cleared a code left over from a repair I performed to the ABS previously. You will need a Micro SD adapter and SD reader to do the update to the scanner. It took about an hour to download and install, but I installed every vehicle that was available. In the end, I’m very satisfied with this scanner.

Well made code reading tool but should not be so challenging to update

This scan tool is really well made and will read all kinds of codes on most vehicles if…. and I repeat IF… you take the time to sift through the manufacturer website to download data that one would think should be on the tool already. I got this specifically to read my ABS codes on a 2003 Land Rover Discovery only to find that one has to download the code datat for that vehicle. I could understand if it was a 2013 0r 2014 model LR but 2003? The website is not easy to navigate and I had to actually post a question at one of the LR forums to get an answer from a forum member who had done it. In the end I read my code and that was good and I did not have an OBDII scan tool so this will come in handy for the times I will need it for my LR or other cars.

The one scanner that does it all

This scanner does it all, you can get diagnostics codes as well as reset the ABS,SRS,and Check Engine Light. Updates couldn’t be simpler. Support is excellent. My suggestion is, when you receive the scanner do the updates immediately. This will save you time if your particular make and model has had a recent software update. I did quite a bit of research before I purchased the AL619, and I’m glad I did. It’s the best all around scanner at a great price. And it’s very simple to use.

Very satisfied

It connected easily to my car’s system, recognized the ECM, ABS and SRS subsystems. It did’t show any codes, but I wasn’t expecting any. I especially liked that it’s powered by the OBDII port, so no dead/leaking batteries to worry about. I haven’t tried It on other cars. The unit and the connecting cable are solidly built (like most devices of this type that I’ve owned). I haven’t installed the software yet, as I have no immediate need for it. The live feature, with graphing, is a nice touch. This was quite a bargain, compared to what a device like this (with either ABS or SRS, much less both) would have cost even a few years ago.

Great Scanner for the Money!

I needed to replace an older scanner that would not communicate with one of our cars and decided to buy a new one. This scanner is the best priced unit that I could find that provided ABS and SRS coverage. I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to read a transmission control module code on my ’05 Grand Cherokee as well. I was able to repair the shift control mechanism and save a trip to the dealer to read the code. I was also able to pinpoint a wiring issue to a seat belt that had tripped the airbag light. Both codes were cleared and the unit paid for itself on the first use. Updates can be downloaded from the Autel website to the micro-SD card via PC. A micro-SD adapter is not included so you might want pick one up if you don’t already have one. This scanner is a great buy for the serious do it yourselfer.

Great tool – Works with Land Rover right out of the Box!

‘Works with 2001 Land Rover Discovery’ This thing is GREAT! I’ve had a basic Code Reader for many years now but this takes it to a whole new level! The Three Amigos had been on for a very long time.. I connected this straight out of the box and it told me that I had Low Signal from Front Right ABS Sensor! I cleared the Codes and will now wait and see if it comes back before doing some fault finding. This is not the EU version but it does have many European Manufacturers including Opel/Vauxhall, Seat, VW and BMW etc. Great product at a fantastic price!

So I’ve had this Unit for a little over a year now. I work as a Honda mechanic at one of the busiest Honda dealers in the US, and I use this as a quick troubleshooting guide pretty much on a daily basis to avoid having to track down the shop computers for simple quick scans. I just spent some time reading some of the other reviews and wanted to chime in to clarify for people purchasing this tool. This is a basic OBDII ABS/SRS code reader, it’s not an end all diagnostic tool. If you have manufacturer specific codes it might have problems. A top of the line Snap on diagnostic platform will run you $10,000, top of the line OTC $4000, and basing off Honda factory scan tool cost, I would guess most factory scan tools are probably in the $2000 range. Don’t expect the world from a $200(or less depending on current pricing) code reader. Those aftermarket diagnostic platforms work with the manufacturer purchasing information to have complete diagnostic capability. Code readers are typically reverse engineered where the company producing them does not pay the manufacturer for any information so they do the best they can. I have pretty much not had a problem with the unit, it can be a little quirky giving multiple(typically 2) module’s with random hexadecimal names and you need to find the right one(I believe it may be picking up PCM and TCM if the modules are separate). When I first purchased it I had a couple cars it didn’t want to work on for SRS codes and I did need to update the software from their website, was fairly simply and since about a year ago doing that I cannot remember one time I have had the unit not pull a code. So if you encounter a problem you should try updating first before condemning the tool. You will have to purchase a micro sd reader but they are very inexpensive. Also they have free software update’s for this model as well which is a bonus. I was initially going to give the unit 4 stars because of the quirks I have had with it, but in writing this review and actually thinking about how it hasn’t really failed me in any major way I feel it does deserve a 5 star review, for it’s value to effectiveness ratio.

Money well spent

Used on my 2000 Land Rover Discovery II to find out why the three amigos were lighted up. This indicated the problems immediately and told me my front wheel sensor might be going out as well as the ABS box. I cleared the codes and they haven’t come back for over a month. That alone was worth the price of the tool. I didn’t even have to update/download anything as others have had to do. It was ready out of the box. It’s been nice messing with the other engine functions as well. Pulled codes on a neighbors Jeep no problem as well as a friends Buick and VW Golf diesel. Money well spent.

Resets SRS light of a 2012 Ridgeline

Worked as advertised… A little bit slow to update and link/load but it really worked resetting the SRS light of a 2012 Honda Ridgeline. It was even able to identify the error that caused the light to stay on even though the error was fixed already.

Great Value for the Home Mechanic

I bought this to diagnose a P0420 code in a 2005 Nissan Frontier and in the short time I’ve had it, it’s proven to be a great little tool. It enables you to graph real-time sensor output so I was able to see the pre and post cat o2 sensor readings and determine that was a bad cat and not a dirty sensor. I’ve also hooked it up to a ’13 Subaru XV and ’07 Ford E-450 to check for pending codes and it worked flawlessly on all three vehicles. For the initial update you need to create a profile and have the capability to read/write to a mini-SD card, however the actual update itself was fairly quick and easy. Overall I’d say this is a great buy for the shade-tree mechanic looking for something more versatile than your basic code reader and the fact that it reads SRS and ABS systems as well makes it worth the extra couple of bucks in my opinion.

While I’m not a mechanic guru by any means this Autel device makes it easy to read any issues going on with your car. The update via Windows was fairly simple and this definitely saved me time and money during the diagnosis of what looked like a 4th of July light show on my 4Runners dashboard. If you can get a good price on this via Amazon with Prime shipping I highly recommend this. I know I’ll be using this for years to come with the general maintenance work I perform on my SUV and my wifes car.

I like the item. It worked well on my abs fault, pinpointing the exact speed sensor that was bad. (of 6 possible). The supplied micro SD card took several tries to get it to update, finally got it to work in a laptop. It reads regular engine faults just like a cheap scanner, but it usually gives a brief description too. Support on SD card issue was bad. Got email reply from someone who obviously didn’t speak the Queens English. Figured out myself.

Awesome! Read codes from my mothers ’09 Impala for engine, ABS & SRS. Also found out my ’05 Venture has a bad right front wheel bearing. Great tool, with all the systems in cars now (meaning last 15-20 years) this scanner reads them all. Well worth the money difference over the lower model (AL519) that only reads engine codes.

Great scanner and code reader

Great little scanner that can! I love this scanner…it is portable, has great coverage, and even will do most ABS/Air bag modules. I have used this on many different makes and models, and it has not disappointed yet. Has the ability to pinpoint problem areas, and also has graphing and live data capture to watch different sensors for operation. Updating can be an issue for some, but I did not have any problems at all. My unit arrived quickly and had the latest program already installed. I have not had any issues reading codes in any vehicle, including 2014 vehicles..Recommend. I actually prefer this to my larger and MUCH more expensive NAME BRAND unit that cost many times what this unit did. For everyday use this is hard to beat at this price. This is my go to unit for most every repair and it’s small size is great to throw into the truck to have with you..just in case. Better coverage than many others and seems to have exceptionally great coverage for the price. Has ability to save trouble codes for later retrieval, and can clear check engine, abs and air bag lights. An example-saved money when I was able to determine cause of air bag light was a sensor that turned out to be a recall issue that was taken care of free of charge by dealer. Has paid for itself several times over with, and my more expensive unit is collecting a lot of dust since getting this!

Fantastic ABS scanner.

This tool makes me feel like a garage genius. I have a couple of different OBDII scanners but don’t have anything that could talk to ABS, until now. I bought this as the most inexpensive, yet decently reviewed product that can interface with the ABS on my 2002 Hyundai. It does that well. Spent a few minutes with it and updated the software from the Autel website. Connected it to my car and pinpointed the exact wheel position sensor that was intermittently turning my ABS/TCS indicators on. This scanner + the parts to fix my ABS were less than a trip to the dealership. That’s a good deal. The display is clear, buttons work well, and the interface is pretty clean. This is an excellent scanner for the price.

Works Fine on Ford Diesels

Awesome little unit…I was a little concerned this wouldn’t work for me. It did, so don’t believe anyone who says this reader won’t work on a diesel. This reader worked fine on my 2008 Ford F-350 diesel and easily cleared out the ABS error code that was generated as the result of an alternator failure. Just take your time, read, and follow the instructions and you will be fine. Once you play with it for a while, using it becomes intuitive. It’s difficult to make mistakes because the reader always pops up with a message like "are you sure?" This one is staying in my toolbox…

So far so good, already paid for itself with 3 imports & warning light fixes. 1 was a 2008 Range Rover engine light. It told me a code # and mentioned gas or something? I looked it up & said needs new gas cap. Indtalled new one & reset light. Has not gone on since, thats a $150 minimum if I had taken it in.
